Augusta Louisa Enquist was born in Hånger, Sweden in 1872. Her father, Jonas Enquist, was a soldier in the Swedish Army. Her mother was Stina Pettersdotter Torst. The family lineage of Augusta Enquist has been traced to the 16th century in Sweden. Augusta Enquist immigrated to the United States on July 20, 1891 aboard the SS Alaska, and was employed as a domestic in Joliet, Illinois by 1892. She married Peter Norberg in Joliet, Il. on Aug. 2, 1895. She had 11 children, of which 9 lived to adult ages: (Runo; Raymond; Roy; Eleanore; Amanda; May; Lawrence; Leroy; Earl; Adeline; And George). Roy and Amanda died at an early age and are also buried in Oakwood Cemetery. Augusta Enquist Norberg would die in Joliet on D Day, June 6, 1944.
